Um Reinder... we're parents....

Tonight at football practice, one of the parents brought a few puppies. She planned on taking them to the pound in the morning, pretty much assuring they were going to die.

With the economy what it is, no one wants pets. People are abandoning pets left and right, especially people who have just been foreclosed on. Puppies like this one, who will grow up to be almost 200 lbs, eat a huge amount of food and cost a pretty penny. He probably wouldn't get adopted.

I have missed Dagmar greatly. The house seems strange without a dog inside it. Pyewacket has been very lonely and my dirty dishes need to be licked clean before going in the sink. I talked to Squirrel and Badger about it, and they agreed we should save a puppy's life.

So here he is, our new baby Obelix. He's half the size of the cat. His head is the same exact size as Pye's. Obelix is very cuddly and sleeps a lot, not very playful at all. Wonderfully lazy- he'll make a fantastic goat guard... if I can ever get him off Squirrel's bed. *sigh*

Wow... that's a surprise.
I'm not sure about his adult weight... one of the measurements in the Wikipedia article must be wrong and I can't tell which.
